Once I got the workbench on the ship and assembled, the next question was where I was going to find wood for future projects. I planned on using pallets if I could find some that were in decent shape. However, I was not aware of the wood that is used for some crates. After receiving supplies, someone pointed out a crate that was going to be thrown away, so I went to take a look. The crate was mostly pine plywood, but the support structure was four large pieces of white oak! As you can see it is all rough cut, so the milling process was fun. I don’t know what the 4×4 was a part of, but I think it is cedar. I will find a use for that later. For now I will be building a shadow box out of the oak. I will write another post after I get some more pictures onto the computer.
